The filtration technique is fundamental in determining the quality of a whey protein. CROSS-FLOW MICROFILTRATION (CFM) is a purification technique operating at low temperatures and without the use of chemicals. The process preserves protein subfractions with high biological value such as lactoferrin, glycomacropeptides and immunoglobulins with important functions in the body (antiviral, anti-inflammations, anti-oxidative).

Other techniques, such as ion-exchange, are not capable of maintaining these important protein subfractions and they use chemical reagents, such as hydrochloric acid, that degrade the product.

Alfa-lactalbumin

  • Source of amino acids;
  • Source of BCAA (branched-chain aminoacids);
  • Only portion capable of binding to certain minerals such as calcium and zinc, which facilitates absorption;
  • Found in breast milk, it is a source of essential amino acids, especially tryptophan - amino acid that aids in serotonin production = improved sleep, mood;
  • Increases bioavailability of fat-soluble vitamins;
  • Increases muscular efficiency during exercise.

Immunoglobulin (CFM)

  • IgG is the main and most abundant immunoglobulin present in milk (but also IgA, IgD, IgE, IgM);
  • Proteins found in Colostrum which stimulates the immune system;
  • Passive immunity (protection granted through the transfer of antibodies);
  • Antioxidant activity exerting protection against infection by producing lymphocytes;
  • Induction of apoptosis in tumor cells;
  • Antiviral activity.

Lactoferrin (CFM)

  • Glycoprotein that belongs to the transferrin family;
  • Binds to iron and thus regulates iron absorption;

Lactoperoxidase

Albumin Bovine Serum

Glycomacropeptides (CFM)

  • Peptide with high content of essential amino acids;
  • Favors the absorption of minerals by the intestinal epithelium;
  • Provides protection against infection through the production of lymphocytes, inhibitory action on gastric acid secretion, and immunosuppressive activity;
  • Inhibits tooth decay and cavities.
